The SDLP’s Declan O’Loan has taken the second of the seven available seats in the Ballymena DEA of Mid and East Antrim Council.

Mr O’Loan, the first of his Party’s candidates to be elected locally to the new Super Council, was elected after reaching the quota in the fifth count.

Meanwhile, counting in the seven-seat Braid DEA has been completed with no one reaching the quota of 1102 which resulted in the exclusion of the PUPs William Parkhill whose 183 first preference votes will be transferred in the second stage.
