Retired Fire Officer and Ballymena runner Gary Davison is on track to raise funds for a cause close to his heart.

Come April 13, the local man will run the Virgin London Marathon on behalf of the Fire Fighters’ charity.

Gary, who served with the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service based in Ballymena, retired from the service last July and a month later the keen runner represented the Service in the World Police and Fire Games, winning two gold medals.

A regular runner with Ballymena Runners AC, Gary started training for the Virgin London Marathon after been selected by the Charity to run on its behalf and has been running up to 75 miles per week in preparation.

He is one of 12 runners taking part for the charity but is the only one from Northern Ireland. To sponsor Gary please go to: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/GaryDavison1
