Former pupils of Ballymena Academy held the bi-annual London Reunion at the House of Lords on February 21.
The event was kindly hosted by Lord John Alderdice and attended by over one hundred past pupils.
Guests were treated to a tour of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords before listening to the guest speaker Stephen Walker, author and political journalist for the BBC who entertained the gathered crowd with readings from his old school reports.
The second guest speaker David Humphreys was expertly interviewed by Principal Ronnie Hassard and shared insight into the world of professional rugby, sadly the prediction for the result of the England v Ireland fixture at Twickenham the following afternoon wasn’t fulfilled by the men in green.
Current President of the Past Pupils’ committee Peter Johnston said: “It was a great privilege to be invited to Westminster by Lord Alderdice for a Ballymena Academy Old Pupils’ Reunion.
Over 100 ex pupils of all vintages attended and we heard stimulating contributions from Lord Alderdice, Stephen Walker the BBC political reporter, the Headmaster Ronnie Hazzard and David Humphreys.
“The evening enabled the renewal of many old friendships, but also the creation of new connections across the generations, all united by a fondness and appreciation for the school.”
