Rotary ‘sign up’ famed Freemen

Ballymena Rotary Club have added two world famous names to their members’ list!

Last week, the club welcomed Lord Bannside and Dr Syd Millar as Honorary Members.

At the Club’s Christmas meeting, Acting President, John Ramsey, introduced the globally known politician and the legendary rugby administrator and expressed his delight on behalf of the Club that both had accepted the invitation to become honorary members. John also gave a warm welcome to Lady Bannside and Mrs Millar.

Tributes were paid to the late President of the Club, Mervyn Rankin.

Having accepted honorary membership Lord Bannside and Dr Millar delighted the packed audience as they recounted memories of earlier days in the Borough of which they are both honorary Freemen.

The Rotary Club is made up of ordinary people from the local area working together to protest the environment, improve our communities and end polio. The Club, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, meets each Tuesday in the Adair Arms Hotel.
