After three days of searching, often in atrocious weather conditions, it seems that the body of missing Ballymena woman Elizabeth Greer has been found near Randalstown.
Elizabeth went missing from Ballymena last Wednesday. The 46 year old, well known to hundreds of Ballymena people in her role as an employee at the local Tesco filling station, had last been seen in the vicinity of Sainsbury’s store next to the River Braid.
Extensive searches were carried out right along the Braid from Thursday morning onwards.
Police were ably assisted by volunteers from the Community Rescue Service in the cold and frustrating task.
Appeals carried on the Ballymena Times website were shared by many users, all of them hoping that ‘Lizzie’ would be found safely.
Those hopes were dashed early on Sunday afternoon with the discovery of a body near Randalstown.
Police say a post mortem will be held into what they describe as the ‘sudden death of a woman’.
