Local councillor Adrian Watson has said that Antrim Council’s former headquarters, Steeple House, should be left as a legacy for the people of Antrim.
Cllr. Watson said that at present, the building has been sitting empty since the council moved to the new Civic Centre.
“Steeple House may be sitting empty but it is still a burden on rate-payers,” Cllr. Watson said.
He added: “It’s been closed for six or seven years and we’re still no further forward on what to do with the building.
“I’d love to see it become a legacy for the local community before it gets side-lined even more when Antrim Council merges with Newtownabbey.”
