Ballymena Arts Festival - what's on and where
AN Artistic explosion of dance, theatre, music and comedy is set to captivate visitors to Northern Ireland's newest museum, arts and civic centre, as the Ballymena Arts Festival takes centre stage at The Braid.
Running from 12th March to 12th April the 2008 festival boasts an impressive line up.
The bill includes a varied programme of arts activities including music, dance, theatre, comedy and storytelling.
The opening week is kick started by 'Harp Laughs on Tour' featuring the Boys from the Blame Game and Conal Gallen's comedy show, 'Live and full of it'.
Other highlights include Gerry Kelly interviewing the Ulster Comedy Greats in a live stage show and a 'Rat Pack Revue' by drama duo, Me and My Shadow.
Northern Ireland comedy troupe, The Hole in the Wall Gang will be closing this year's festival. Renowned for their BBC hit series, 'Give My Head Peace', the Gang will be bringing TV's well-loved characters - Da, Uncle Andy, Billy and Cal - to The Braid's stage. Entitled 'Give My Head Peace - Back from the Grave', the live show is a continuation of the final television episode.
"This year the Ballymena Arts Festival is an explosion of energy. The Arts by nature should fire the imagination and inspire and engage everyone involved. We have provided as broad a programme as possible to ensure that there is something of interest to everybody," explained Rosalind Lowery, Arts Development Officer.
"Our first year in The Braid has allowed for more acts and larger audience numbers, so we are encouraging visitors from all over the province to come along and get involved - it's the perfect opportunity to showcase our fantastic new facilities to visitors and locals alike."
