Funding opportunities highlighted for local groups

MEP Diane Dodds has committed to working alongside local churches and faith based organisations to help bring funding into the North Antrim area.

Mrs. Dodds was speaking at a packed Funding Workshop in the Ballymena DUP Offices, last week, as part of her series of funding seminars across Northern Ireland.

Following the workshop, she said: “We had a very broad range of Church and Faith organisations present – churches, boys and girls brigades, youth organisations to name but a few – and what was clear was the determination of those present to see their local community improve.

“Often the stumbling block to Church funding is through the many lottery funded schemes available but in my ‘Signposts to Funding for Churches’ directory I have outlined some of the trusts and EU funding streams that are available to Churches and faith-based organisation, along with some advice on how to prepare your group to get to the point of applying for funding,” said Mrs Dodds.

She added: “I aim to run another series of workshops later in the year that will give those wishing to apply further detailed advice on the application process. In the meantime if any group requires further information or assistance, or would like a copy of the directory, please contact my office in Lisburn on 92 667733 or visit my website www.dianedodds.co.uk.”

Ian Paisley MP commented: “Hopefully now we will be able to work together and secure income for some of our most vital community groups that give so much back to their local area.”
