Horse rescued from river

BALLYMENA PSNI were involved in the rescue of a horse from a river at the Moyan Road area Dunloy at the weekend, it has just emerged.

Police received a call shortly after 10am on Saturday that the animal was missing and at about 4.30pm it was reported that the 15.2 hands high bay horse had been found submerged in the river. After several hours at the scene involving police and members of the local Community Rescue Service, the horse was re-united with its owner.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “This example of police initiative and the action of the local Community Rescue Service resulted in the successful rescue, and the owner of the horse was quick to praise those involved.”
