A young Ballymena man is among nine marketing students who have been recognised for achieving academic success while studying at the University of Ulster.

Christopher Shannon received the Best Overall First Year Student title at the Department of Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Strategy’s Marketing Excellence Awards.

Sponsored by local companies, the awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of marketeers from Ulster’s class of 2011/2012.

Award recipient Christopher Shannon from Ballymena (pictured) is currently in his second year on the BSc Marketing degree.

He said: “I have always been interested in marketing and see myself as a natural born promoter.

“By studying marketing I aim to leverage that skill to benefit individuals and brands. I have always enjoyed using creativity to achieve results and grew up with a business mind-set so I chose the BSc Marketing degree at Jordanstown as I felt it would be the best area to showcase my talents.

“I am currently applying for industrial placements in Northern Ireland and I hope to grab a placement in events or brand management as I feel these areas compliment my skills the best.”
