Railway Street distraction burglary
Detectives in Ballymena are appealing for information following a distraction burglary in the Railway Street area.
Around 3pm on Wednesday a male called at a house claiming to be from the Water Service and asked to check the water taps in the kitchen.
The lady of the house went with the man into the kitchen and he also called her husband in.
It is believed at this point a second person entered the house via the unlocked front door and went upstairs.
A short time after the male had left the elderly couple discovered that a bedroom had been ransacked and money was taken. The suspicious caller is described as around 5’7, slim build, wearing jeans and a yellow high visibility jacket.
Anyone who noticed any unusual activity in the area or who has any information is asked to contact police at Ballymena CID on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
