Talks called over turbine

AN office meeting has been requested with planners by Councillors Sam Hanna and Robin Cherry over the Planning Service’s refusal of a wind turbine at Glenravel.

Councillors were told at Thursday night’s Spatial Planning Committee meeting in the Braid that the application of S & K Kearney for a 250kw wind turbine with a 32.3 hub height and 32m blade diameter was to be turned down.

According to planners, the proposed turbine, which was proposed for erection on land 300m north west of 26 Dungonnell Road, would, if permitted, “have an unacceptable adverse impact on the landscape character and visual amenity of the area”; “not be sensitive to the character and landscape quality of the Antrim Coast and Glens AONB; and, also because insufficient information, in the form of a noise assessment, had been submitted.
