Woman still fighting for life

editorial image

BALLYMENA stabbing victim Elizabeth Lamont was still fighting for her life this morning.

The 59-year-old from Carnvale, just off Carniny Road, was described as being in a ‘critical condition.’

Her husband, John, died from stab wounds at their home in the early hours of Tuesday morning. A 26-year-old, understand to be the couple’s son, Greg, is being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

John and Elizabeth Lamont were well known throughout the area and the horrific attack has left the local community stunned.

One near neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said the couple were frequently seen going for walks around the Carniny area, a quiet, residential district which sits off the main route to Cullybackey.
