A man who drove at 125mph on a motorway because he needed to use the toilet urgently has been disqualified.

James Maitland (29), of Clagan Cottages, Londonderry admitted speeding, which occurred on June 4.

The court heard that police caught the defendant driving at that speed on that date.

A defending solicitor told Antrim Magistrates Court that Maitland had been driving a ridiculous speed.

Defence said: “He had been to Tandragee and was coming back up the motorway and needed to go to the toilet very, very urgently.”

District Judge Alan White banned Maitland from driving for four months and fined him £200 and ordered he pay the £15 levy.
