Approval has been given by Council’s Planning Committee for three new bus shelters in Ballymena.

Members accepted a recommendation by Planners to approve the Mid & East Antrim Council applications, subject to relevant conditions.

Principal Planner Gary McGuinness told councillors the shelters proposed for sites at Waveney Hospital on Cushendall Road, 40m NW of 161 Larne Road, and at Rockfield Medical Centre on Cushendall Road, would all be of same standard design and structure.

He said while one third party objection had been received in relation to the Doury Road application, no objections had been raised by Transport NI. The committee went on to accept planners’ recommendation to approve all three applications. Cr Billy Henry, however, abstained from voting on the Doury Road application.
