Former Mayor of Antrim Brian Graham has been elected as Chairman of the County Antrim Grand Orange Lodge Cultural & Education Committee.

He was elected at a meeting of the Committee last Wednesday by the representatives of the 25 Districts that make up the County Antrim Grand Orange Lodge.

“Firstly can I thank the members of the committee for electing me as their Chairman for 2016. I am delighted to take on this role as I have a great interest in the Orange Order, having been a member since 1985,” Mr Graham said.

He added: “From 2001 when I was elected as a Councillor to Antrim Borough Council I didn’t have the same time to devote myself to the world of Orangeism but now, since retirement has caught up with me, I now have the time to pursue other interests.

“On behalf of the committee I would like to thank Bro. Stephen Anderson (Cloughmills District No.14) for his leadership as Chairman over the past three Years. Stephen applied himself to the task in hand and he will be a hard act to follow.”
