Patients in Ballymena and the wider Northern Trust area are set to benefit from a new on-line palliative care resource.

The Trust is working to address the information and support needs of patients receiving palliative care, as well as their families and carers within its catchment area.

It is hoped that providing relevant, high-quality and up to date information in the form of a palliative care web resource will help people affected by a range of life-limiting illnesses and their families and carers’ make informed decisions, and reduce unnecessary anxiety and distress.

The web resource has been designed to provide a wide range of relevant, supportive and up to date information for patients, their families and carer’s about Northern Trust services including; the Northern Trust Benefits Advice Service, Carers’ Service and the Macmillan Information and Support Service.

There is also a detailed Palliative Care Service Directory featuring the latest contact information on local support and user groups, local and national charities and emergency contacts.

A specialist section is also dedicated to the subject of preparing for the future, which is essential for patients and their families to enable them to live well until the end of life and enable their wishes to be fulfilled.

The new web resource, which will feature under the Trust’s external website’s A-Z of services, also features extensive information and support for carer’s of patients who are receiving palliative care.
