Ian Paisley jnr has been selected as North Antrim DUP candidate for the General Election to Westminster, scheduled for May 7.
The North Antrim DUP Association unanimously selected him on Friday past as their candidate to return to Westminster and represent the North Antrim constituency. The meeting was chaired by East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell and attended by members from Moyle, Ballymoney, and Ballymena.
Speaking after his selection Ian Paisley MP said: “It is a huge honour for me to be selected to contest the next election.
“This is a very significant personal moment for me given that this will be the first election we will contest without the presence of my father. He was active in the last election and I know we will all miss him from the campaign.
“In the past five years I have put significant energy and effort into being the Member of Parliament and helping to develop the constituency and services to it.
“I have been a reliable voice for our community in Parliament with one of the highest speaking contribution records as well as a considerable number of written questions.
“Importantly, I am an active member of two select affairs committees including Northern Ireland and Government Reform,” he said.
