Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is pleased to announce that residents can now recycle more items in their blue bin.

Items that can be recycled via the blue bin now include: envelopes with no windows; plastic trays e.g. fruit trays, meat trays, plastic takeaway dishes; plastic tubs e.g. butter/margarine tubs; plastic pots e.g. yoghurt pots, pasta sauce pots; plastic Easter Egg packaging; plastic egg cartons; roll-on deodorant containers.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, Councillor Thomas Hogg said: “This is fantastic news for our residents, and even better news for our environment. By recycling more items, we can reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

“We are currently recycling approximately 50% of household waste items and this will help us improve our recycling figures even further.”
