Councillor Drew Ritchie, committee secretary, said: “Road safety continues to be an issue the public have serious concerns around and local schools continue to ensure children are taught its importance from an early age.

“Members are always impressed by the understanding children display at an early age.

“I know teachers, parents, PSNI and DOE will continue to ensure children of all ages are made aware of the challenges on our roads.

“This year we had close to 300 entries and the standard once again was excellent.”
