Scouts are off to land of the Rising Sun

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Cllr. Billy Ashe, is pictured with Scouts Jordan Leinster, James Gourley and Owen Dick from 3rd Ballymena West Church, Samuel Kyle and Rory Cunningham from 1st Cullybackey, and Harry Gaston from Killymurris, who will travel to Japan for the 23rd World jamboree. They are part of 36 scouts and 4 leaders, which make up Unit 62 Northern Ireland, who will attend the event of over 30,000 Scouts and Guides.' During their three week trip all the Jamboree participants will have the opportunity to stay with a Japanese host family, spend time in Tokyo and spend 12 days with people from all over the world at the jamboree site in Yamaguchi. The Jamboree theme is 'Spirit of Unity' and has peace and a visit to Hiroshima as the core educational aspects of the trip.'
