Steerburger founder passes away

The man who brought a true taste of America to Ballymena has passed away.

Mr. Brian ‘Bun’ Mathews died suddenly in hospital on February 22.

A member of a famous baking family, Brian’s skill as a cakemaker inevitably meant he was nicknamed ‘Bun’.

A man of great ideas, he will be fondly remembered for his ‘Steerburger’ outlet on Ballymena’s Linenhall Street which gave a generation of local people a true taste of the classic American burger.

Brian, late of Mooreland Close, Ballymena was the much loved father of Shauna (Scroggie) and Sara (Wilson), father-in-iaw of Warren and Jeremy and devoted Grandfather of Nicolle, Lee, Charlotte, Matthew and Charlie.

Funeral service in West Presbyterian Church on Saturday 25th inst. at 12 noon interment afterwards Ballee Cemetery.
