View: Ballymena man’s mystery tour marriage proposal

A romantic Ballymena man proposed to his girlfriend at the end of an elaborate treasure hunt - and the story has become a You Tube hit!

Craig McCullough from the town used the hunt as cover for his ultimate aim of winning the hand of partner Alice Lougheed.

The magical mystery tour began in a coffee shop in her hometown of Bangor and Alice followed all the clues,before ending up at Ballyholme beach where Craig was waiting at the spot where the couple enjoyed their first walk together.

Fairy lights and pictures of the happy pair were hanging from trees, with fresh flowers and a camera set up to capture the adorable moment.

Craig, 24, “As soon as I saw her come round the corner, all the nerves were gone and I couldn’t wait to get to call her my fiancee.”

The video has been watched thousands of times with the pair’s focus now turning to the big day.

No date has yet been confirmed but they hope to tie the knot towards the end of next year.

Craig added: “We have been blown away by the response to the video. Initially, we put it online so that family and friends could see the special moment.

“Never did we imagine that it would get this amount of attention of coverage. It’s very humbling.”
