Friday, March 4, will be observed as the Women’s World Day of Prayer, with the Ballymena Area Group of the Movement holding a service in the local Methodist Church.

The focus of the world-wide services will be to pray for Cuba, and in Ballymena a choir comprising lady members of choirs in the area will lead the praise.

Alan Forrester will be the organist.

An estimated three million people from more than 170 countries and islands will participate in the day of prayer, using an order of service written by Christian women in Cuba and translated into more than 60 languages and 100 dialects.

In the British Isles alone, 6,000-plus services will be taking place.

The theme “Receive children, receive me” reflects St Mark’s Gospel (ch 4, v 13-16) which is the focus of the service and a reminder that everyone is a child of God and worthy of our love and respect.

The Ballymena service commences at 8pm and is open to everyone .
