THE 61st Annual General meeting of the Antrim and District Darts League was held in the Top of the Town clubrooms last week, when 12 clubs, including the three new clubs, had two representatives present.
Tommy Forsythe, Antrim League’s representative at the NIDO meetings conducted the election of officers.
Mel Matthews, Parkhall Inn suggested that the League Officers had a very successful programme last season and proposed that all the officers, if they had no objections be re-elected.
This proposal was welcomed by all the delegates attending.
The election results are as follows: Chairman, Trevor Harbinson of Crow’s Nest; Vic-Chairman, Tommy Forsythe of Bushe Bar; Secretary, John Taggart of Antrim Rugby Club; Treasurer, Brian Gibb of Bushe Bar and Assistant Treasurer and Press Officer, William Hemming of the Galleon.
The above officers together with the following names will serve on the special Committee to which there was no change from last season: Jacko Cowan, Galleon; Liam Lenaghan, Bushe Bar; Billy Ball, Chimney Corner; and Barry McNally, Top of the Town. Barry will also be League table organiser for the season.
Two teams, The Lions and Shanogue House didn’t send representatives to the AGM and seemed to have pulled out of the League this season.
Chairman Trevor Harbinson thanked Tommy Forsythe for his job of getting the new officers elected in record time.
All delegates are asked to gauge their club members views on the individual Championship being played on a Saturday to a finish instead of a Friday night. The provisional date is Saturday, January 19, 2008 starting at 1pm.
Their views will be heard at the September League meeting in the Top of the town on Monday 14. The League programme starts on Friday, September 21 when all League signings and registration fees plus any outstanding tender must be paid.
Forms will be handed to for any clubs wishing to tender for any of the cup finals of the new season.
