Past and current pupils from Ballymena Academy will once again gather for the annual Boxing Day sporting fixtures held at the school.

The event, which features rugby and hockey matches, has now become an important fixture on the Galgorm Road school’s sporting calendar and traditonally draws big crowds of spectators.

The morning of sport and socialising provides past and current pupils alike a chance to come together, look back and reminisce as well as watch some top class sporting action.

Both the Rugby and Hockey games start at 10am and post match refreshments will be served at the conclusion in the D.B. Jagoe Sixth Form Centre.

All past pupils and friends of the school are welcome to attend and to renew some old friendships.

Jane Allen from the Ballymena Academy Old Pupils’ Association committee explained: “This event has grown in popularity in recent years and provides past pupils who are home for Christmas a chance to meet up with old friends.

“We are lucky to have a strong community spirit within the school and a lot of former pupils enjoy coming together over the Christmas period,” added Jane.
