It was a case not so much of ‘Everywhere we Go’ as ‘Everywhere we SNOW’ for one group of intrepid Ballymena-based Northern Ireland fans in France yesterday.

While many locally-based members of the Green and White Army opted to spend an extra day in Nice or make the short journey to tourist havens Monte Carlo or Cannes before making the journey northwards to Lyon for Thursday night’s match against Ukraine, a local quintet had entirely different plans.

Gary Dempster. Kenny Armstrong, Jonny Irwin, Gary McKeown and Nigel McKeown unleased their adventurous side by taking a nerve-jangling cable car ride up Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps.

While their colleagues basked in the south coast sunshine, the Ballymena men shivered in sub-zero conditions - while still resplendent in Northern Ireland colours, of course!

Like the rest of the Green and White Army, they will be hoping that Michael O’Neill’s men won’t have a mountain to climb in terms of qualification from their group after Thursday’s make-or-break clash.
