It '˜dozen' get any better than this for Corner

Chimney Corner continued their recent run of goalscoring form in Ballymena & Provincial League competitions on Saturday.

The Antrim men put 10 goals past Sofia Farmer a couple of weeks ago in the Michelin Athletic Club-sponsored league championship and at the weekend they went even better - hammering 12 goals past the haplesss mid-Ulster side, this time in the O’Gorman Cup.

Elsewhere, Wakehurst Strollers produced a terrific performance to knock Brantwood Reserves out of the Linda Welshman Memorial Cup in a seven-goal thriller.

Sofia Farmer 0, Chimney Corner 12: Jamie Willigan put Corner in front from the penalty spot on the 10th minute then two goals scored by Kevin Coogan on the 25th and 30th minutes saw the Antrim men three ahead.

Sofia then conceded an own goal on the 35th minute going in four down at half-time. The second half saw Corner control the game scoring eight more goals through David Hanna 2, Glen Murphy 3, Ciaran Toner, Ben McTaggart and Kevin Coogan.

JUNIOR DIVISION ONE

Antrim Rovers 4, Woodlands 1: This game was stopped by the referee on the 60th minute after the young Rovers player Dean Sullivan suffered a serious leg injury which saw the game stopped waiting for an ambulance to take him to hospital.

Earlier, Ross Oliver scored on the 10th minute putting Woodlands in front then three goals scored by Jordan McKelvey 12th minute, Darren Adair 14th minute and Jonny Rogers 23rd minute saw the Rovers two goals ahead at half-time. Jonny Rogers the converted a penalty for Rovers on the 47th minute and after this came the Injury which saw both teams deciding with the referee to call a halt to proceedings.

JUNIOR DIVISION THREE

Antrim Rovers Swifts 3, Carnlough Swifts 1: Carnlough took the lead in this game with Gary McMullan scoring the opening goal on the 19th minute and this goal separated the teams until Steven McClenaghan headed in the equaliser for Antrim on the 55th minute. Antrim went ahead on the 58th minute through a goal scored by Matthew Montgomery and secured the win after Jack McLean scored their third goal on the 72nd minute.

LINDA WELSHMAN MEMORIAL CUP

Wakehurst Strollers 4, Brantwood Reserves 3: David Calderwood broke the deadlock on the 42nd minute putting the Wakehurst ahead but Brantwood responded with Gareth McAuley scoring a brace of goals on the 47th and 57th minutes. Peter Adams scored the equaliser for Wakehurst on the 64th minute from the penalty spot.

Wakehurst then went in front with goals scored by David Calderwood and Steven Quigley on the 69th and 74th minutes. Brantwood hit back with Mark McCann scoring their third goal on the 80th minute setting the game up for a grandstand finish but Wakehurst stood firm until the final whistle.
