Liverpool boys enjoy warm Ballymena welcome at football event

Nine teams took part in this season’s Ballymena Invitation Mini Soccer League P5 competition at the Showgrounds on Saturday.

Teams representing Ballymena Utd FC, Carniny Amateurs, Northend United, Ballymena Town, Northend Star, Northend Utd, Carniny Colts and Carniny Youth were joined by English visitors Arncliffe Juniors.

The visiting team from Liverpool was picked up from Belfast International Airport before being conveyed to a day of sporting events at the Sports Hut Ballymena courtesy of the programme organiser Clifford Adams.

Upon arrival at Ballymena Showgrounds the visitors were given a tour of the Stadium before looking around the changing rooms, tunnel area and pitch side area before taking part in games on the 3g pitch at the Showgrounds facility.

At the end of the day the visitors were guests of local restaurant Frankie & Bennys before making the final journey home to Merseyside.

During the trip the boys were welcomed by deputy mayor, Timothy Gaston as well as former league and current York City player Josh Carson.
