With only a short festive break this season, a number of the teams were back in action at the weekend.

Performance of the week goes to the U11s, who recorded a good win over a Larne Colts side, as the local boys prepare for their NIBFA Cup match against Ballymoney United next week.

Lewis Hector (2), Owen Campbell and Peter Bristow were on target for Northend.

In the Lisburn League, a sickness-stricken U14 team lost their match against Armagh City by a single goal margin while the U16s will be wondering what they must do to win a game after again failing to turn their superiority into goals while on top in the match and eventually losing out to Lisburn Rangers.

UNDER-14

Northend United 0, Armagh City 1: With three first team regulars missing, plus three others having to play despite being unwell, this was always going to be an uphill battle for Northend. Armagh city scored the only goal of the match, with 10 minutes to go, when a deflected shot from a corner somehow found its way into the net. MOM - John Brady, Thomas McAuley

Northend: C Brennan, R Jones, T McAuley, J Brady, S Frew, R Campbell(c), R McCluney, M Willighan, C McGarry, C Fullerton, T Patchett, S Lecky.

UNDER-16

Northend 1, Lisburn Rangers 3: Northend conceded a soft goal against the run of play on 25 minutes and Lisburn went on to score two more goals before Zack Herbison got on the scoresheet when he converted a penalty.

Northend: J Mark, J Galbraith, S Bennett, R McKenna (c), T Campbell, C Graham, B Cairns, A Milligan, O Boyle, J Houston, Z Herbison, S Olliver, J Dawson, C Neilly, L McAllister.

CONGRATULATIONS

Everyone at Northend United Youth were again pleased to see that former U17 Captain, Niall Swann, was again on the scoresheet and turned in another top performance for Wakehurst FC in their 3-2 Irish League Championship Two defeat against Tobermore United on Saturday.
