Elsewhere in the Lisburn League, the U14s lost their bruising battle with Shankill Juniors and both U13s and U15s lost their matches against Willowbank and Newry side, Windmill, respectively.

The U10s continue to set the standard in the North West with another convincing 9-3 win, this time over Roe Valley. Both U11 teams continue to dominate matches without getting their just reward when they again lost close matches against Dungiven Celtic and Roe Valley.

Northend United 9, Roe Valley 3: After a frustrating start with a few missed chances, the man in form at the moment, Jay McKeown was on hand to tap in from close range after a fantastic long range effort from Shea O’Broin was parried by the keeper.

Ryan Campbell then illustrated his prowess coming forward from defence as he bamboozled the Roe Valley defence with a mazy run before dispatching a low driven effort from just outside the box.

Ben O’Neill provided the avenue for the third as Jay McKeown was on hand to blast in from a perfect cross, netting his second of five goals.

Roe Valley responded well as their number nine tucked home from a neat cross.

But Northend replied and it was substitute Charlie McGarry who was on hand to tap in after some memorising trickery from O’Broin before McKeown added two more to his tally.

Shea O’Broin finally got his first of two goals following some fine work from Tyler Boyd as he jinked his way through the Roe Valley defence to slot through for O’Broin who finished as ruthlessly as ever.

Roe Valley did manage to grab two consolation goals but fittingly the last word went to Northend as McKeown and O’Broin were unstoppable in tandem with the later finishing off a cross from his attacking partner. MOM - Tyler Boyd.

It was Dungiven who nudged themselves in front during the first minute following some good build up play.

From the re-start, as the ball broke loose in the Dungiven box Jack Adams was on hand to fire the ball into the top corner. Moments later Dungiven edged in front again when they forced the ball past the on-rushing Curtis Wilson.

Dungiven made the best of an early spell of pressure to score their third after four minutes of the second half.

Northend replied as Peter Bristow controlled the ball before coolly rounding the keeper and sliding the ball into the goal but the Dungiven keeper produced a string of fine saves to protect his side’s slender lead. MOM - Owen Campbell

Jamie Houston finally doubled Northend’s lead after ten minutes off the half, when he scored with a good shot into the corner of the net. This goal effectively killed off Newry’s resilience and Zack Herbison got his second goal of the match.

Jamie Houston scored his second goal and Northend’s fourth of the match when he played a one-two with Zack Herbison and ran on the score with a well placed shot into the corner of the net.

Robbie Dennison continued to pose a threat from each Northend corner before Jamie Houston completed his hat-trick on the day when he clinically scored from a Jack Galbraith cross.

The best and simplest goal of the game was scored by Jack Galbraith when he got on the end of a training ground free-kick which seen Craig Cunningham on the overlap; drive the ball into the Newry box where Galbraith applied the finishing touch.
