The Slemish Invitational tournament is initially aimed at the 2006 age group and 16 teams from all over Northern Ireland have registered for the competition, which will take place on Saturday, July 18 at the Warden Street venue.

Tournament organiser, Ally McGarry, commented “With our own 2006 teams attending similar tournaments throughout Northern Ireland and really enjoying themselves, it was felt that the time was right for our Club to host its own tournament.”

In what is a first for Ballymena, initially sixteen teams, in four groups of four, will compete for the Slemish Invitational Cup in a seven-a-side format. Following the group stages, each team will compete in a Cup, Plate, Shield or Rosebowl competition.

“We intend to make this an annual competition” declared Ally, “and to expand it into other age groups in future years”
