Rude awakening for Amateurs on debut
The Amateurs entertained Shamrock FC in their first match in the Amateur League last Saturday at Ballymena Showgrounds.
However it was the visiting side who looked sharper in the opening stages of the game and rattled the Carniny crossbar within the first ten minutes.

Hide AdIt was the Belfast side who opened the scoring on the 26th minute followed by another goal on the 30th minute.
Straight after Carniny responded when Adam Mairs used his pace down the left flank to cross for young Jonathan Cummings to score from close range.
Carniny then looked to have got an equaliser when David Chesney put in an inch perfect pass for Jonny Cummings to slot home only to see it ruled out for offside.
Shamrock went on to extend their lead to 3-1, after some sloppy defending allowed one of their forwards to work his way across the front of the Carniny goal for their third.

Hide AdIt was Shamrock who were fastest out of the blocks for the second half and netted their fourth on the 51st minute.
Carniny came back into the game as the action lulled in the match but there was no rewards for the Ballymena side with Shamrock taking their fifth and sixth goals on the 75th and 80th minutes.
Carniny will have to dust themselves down and regroup quickly to recover from this under par performance.
