Translink provides ‘rail’ boost for cup final fans

Translink have agreed to run a special service for Ballymena United fans travelling to the WASP Solutions League Cup Final against Cliftonville.

Organised by the Spirit of 89 Supporters Club, the train will leave Ballymena Train Station at 2:30pm on Saturday 24th January, calling at City Hospital and finishing at Adelaide.

The return service leaves Adelaide at 8:20pm and will travel directly to Ballymena.

If the game goes into extra-time and/or penalties the train will wait for the match to finish.

ALL passengers must produce a valid ticket to travel, which can only be used on this service.

Tickets went on sale at Ballymena train station on Monday and are available while stocks last.

Prices are £8 for adults, £4 for under-16s, while anyone holding a valid Senior SmartPass can travel free.

Demand is expected to be high so supporters are advised to secure their train ticket as soon as possible.

Translink request that supporters allow the scheduled 2:00pm train to depart before entering the platform area to board the special service. Stewards and PSNI officers will be present to assist boarding with a high volume of passengers anticipated.

Please note normal Translink rules and regulations apply to this service, with the consumption of alcohol prohibited both at the station and on the train itself. All Translink stations and trains operate a no-smoking policy.
