United under-13s take another step closer to securing Elite League status

Ballymena United under 13s have had a tremendous season, unbeaten throughout their league campaign, and they took one step closer to the elite league on Saturday when they were awarded the points for their penultimate fixture.

The group have some talented individuals on board and in their debut season,played in the National B league as an entry requirement.

Next season they will be the looking to continue their football development, hopefully in the Elite A league,they are on the verge of promotion after weekend results.

The under 15s will be the first to admit they have been consistently inconsistent this season, but hit another purple patch midweek with resounding derby victory over neighbours Northend.

This group will be aiming to move onto the senior set up and the watching United coaching staff will have been impressed by some of the individual performances on the night.

The 14s lost out in thriller to St Oliver Plunkett while the 12s fell to their old foes Lisburn Youth and exited the Lisburn Cup at the semi final stage.

UNDER-12

Lisburn Youth 5, BUYA 0: With guaranteed home advantage in these games for Lisburn, it was always going to be a tough assignment for United who along with their opponents have dominated this youth league over the last two seasons.

It wasn’t to be for United and they face the Lisburn boys again this week in a final league match.

This United side have achieved so much over the last 18 months and will look forward to continuing their development in their debut in the National league next season

UNDER-14

BUYA 3, St Oliver Plunkett 7: A tough scoreline on United as Plunkett’s two or three top quality individuals made the clinical difference as the game came to a close.

The game had been end to end with chances for both sides but as has so often been the case this season, the United boys had no luck.

There were impressive performances once more from Jack O’Mahony and Harry Robinson, the latter firing in yet again to keep up his great scoring record.

Adam Neilly, as usual, gave everything for the shirt and was rewarded with a richly deserved goal, volleying home from 18 yards.

UNDER-15

BUYA 6, Northend United Youth 1: United took charge from the off with Jamie Timms pulling all the strings at the base of the midfield.

His delightful through ball set up Jack Walshe who finished with a quality chip, over the keeper.

McCabe got himself on the end of another Timms slide rule ball and held off the defender to send United two up.

Back came North End through their livewire frontman Herbision who fired home to reduce the defecit.

Timms increased the lead once more with a 25-yard super strike as the Sky Blues quality players started to take charge.

United began to dominate possession, Sam Armstrong shot home from a tight angle before a well placed Carson free kick made it five.

Matthew Logan then hammered in a great cross finished tidily by Adamski with a well place header.

A good team performance from the Skies as their season comes to a close and they look to make the step up to the senior club.
