United Youth Academy awards night on Thursday

The Ballymena United Youth Academy awards evening takes place this Thursday 19th May at The Tullyglass House Hotel.

There will be player prizes awarded in the usual categories from under 10s,through the National plate winners at under 11, Larne Sevens winners at under 13 level through to under 14.

There will also be mention of the senior youth achievements this season at under 16 and league winners under 17’s.

Senior manager David Jeffrey along with senior chairman John Taggart will be in attendance on the night where Academy chairman John Anderson will chair proceedings and review another constructive season at the senior nursery.

The 11s and 12s were in action at the annual Craigavon cup on Saturday, a tournament specifically for Irish League and championship academies .Both sides impressed spectators with their slick pacey play,the 11s recording clean sheets against Carrick Rangers and Portadown, before a good win over Institute took them to the semi’s. A narrow defeat to Linfield saw them exit but excellent football was displayed from both sides throughout a sun kissed afternoon.

The 13s look forward to their own participation at the Friendship Cup in Greenisland this Saturday,where some of the top sides from across the island of Ireland will be in action.
