United Youth Academy sides warm up for new season

Ballymena United Youth Academy sides are looking forward to the new season and have organised a number of friendlies in preparation for the campaign.

The under 12s will face Maiden City, Coleraine and Dungoyne over the next few Friday nights as they prepare for their debut season in the National League.

The group are still recruiting players and another open training session will take place this Saturday 26th July at the Kells 3g facility with a 9.30am start. Any child born on or after January 2003 is welcome to attend.

The under 15’s preparations continue along with the 15’s development side who face North Belfast in a friendly tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.

This 2000 age group were the first to enter two sides last season at their age level and the theme continues for this year, the United under 13’s have a wealth of talent onboard and will enter two teams in the National League and Lisburn League respectively this season.

The under 14’s too will fly the flag for the town in National A League this season as Ballymena’s sole representatives. They will hope to continue on from last seasons league winning form.

Not to be forgotton , the under 11’s also make their competitive debut this season in the excellent Coleraine and North West District League at Ballysally.

As ever with all of the United sides, league participation is important but with the emphasis on youth becoming more apparent further up the club, player development as always is the Academy’s key priority.
