The venue for Ballymena United’s Toals County Antrim Shield final against Linfield has been decided.

The January 12 showdown will be played at the National Stadium, following a toss of a coin at a meting of the County Antrim Football association tonight.

Both clubs had been willing to host the fixture, while the Oval and Seaview had also been under consideration as possible venues.

The sides met in the 2012 final when Ballymena ended their 23-year trophy famine by beating the Blues on penalties.

Ballymena booked their place in this year’s final with a dramatic last-gasp win over Larne a fortnight ago, while Linfield were confirmed as their opponents earlier this week, when they beat Carrick in a weather-delayed semi-final.
