Midway through the first half Northend doubled their lead when Jay McKeown followed up after the keeper had saved Billy Bell’s effort.

Then the move of the half began with Jamie Magill winning the ball and sending O’Broin away down the wing, who cut inside and played it back into the path of McKeown who smashed it first time into the top corner from twenty yards.

The game finished with O’Broin going on another trademark run, weaving past four players before sending O’Neill clear, who placed the ball past the keeper.

Northend 0, Portadown Youth 5: This LIYL Cup game was much more evenly matched than the score suggests and Northend had only themselves to blame for silly mistakes which gifted four goals to Portadown.

Camlough Rovers 1, Northend 0: Having lost heavily to the same opponents on the first day of the season, Northend produced a performance that shows they have come on in leaps and bounds.

The decisive goal came midway through the first half when Camlough won a corner and Northend’s keeper Callum Richmond made a good punch under pressure but Northend failed to react and Camlough quickly pounced and made it 1-0.

Northend United 2, Willowbank 5: The Blues’ rustiness in only playing one competitive match since Christmas was evident as they trailed 2-0 at half-time.

Conor McDonald pulled a goal back for Northend when he turned his marker and planted the ball into the top corner but two more Willowbank goals put the game beyond Northend.

Conor McDonald scored his and Northend’s second goal to reduce the score to 2-4 but with almost the last kick of the game, Willowbank scored their fifth goal.
