The tournament is primarily aimed at the 2006 age group and 24 teams have registered for the tournament in what is expected to be a festival of football from some of the best footballing teams in Northern Ireland.

One team is also travelling from Dublin for what has become a permanent fixture on the youth footballing calendar.

Tournament organiser, Ally McGarry, commented “Following the success of last year’s tournament, we decided to expand this year’s tournament and are really pleased to be welcoming Shankill Boys from Dublin on their first visit to Ballymena”

In what continues to be a first for Ballymena, twenty four teams, in six groups of four, will compete for the Slemish Invitational Cup in a seven-a-side format. Following the group stages, each team will compete in a Cup and Plate competition.

“We have been working hard on the details behind the scenes” declared McGarry “and plan to make it a day to remember for all.”
