Shogun Ju-Jitsu International Chief Instructor Sensei Simon Rimington 8th Dan, was the special guest at the recent Regional Ju-Jitsu gradings.
Sensei Simon made as dedicated trip over from Shogun Headquarters in Chester, England, for the weekend event in Antrim to make the presentations and awards to all the children, at the special invitation of local Ju-Jitsu Coaches Sensei Paul and Sensei Mandi Timperley.
Also invited along as VIP guests were Mayor Thomas Hogg, Deputy Mayor John Blair, Dr Hazel Edwards (Principal Ballycraigy PS), Mrs Alison O’Neill (Family Caring Centre) and Mrs Karen Kerr (NSPCC).
Sensei Simon said; “We are delighted to be invited across by Mandi and Paul for this very special day. Every single one of you boys and girls did fantastic today and I mean that.
“You really have no idea of the time and dedication put in by Mandi and Paul for you all and your clubs, especially to organise such a wonderful event as today.”
Mayor Thomas Hogg was invited to join in to make the presentations to the students and enjoyed himself in doing so.
Sensei Mandi was delighted at how well the children had performed and what they achieved on the day. She congratulates all the successful children; “Well done to all the boys and girls who passed their belts today and also to the lucky children who won awards as they totally deserved them.
“The Ju-Jitsu Champions Cups and Gold Medals were awarded to Charli (Antrim & Randalstown Club), Sophie (Mossley Club) and Thomas (Ballymena Club).
Congratulations to all three children who thoroughly deserved it for their very hard work put into training over recent months and the noticeable improvement shown.”
The Shogun Ju-Jitsu Weekend Event managed to draw in a really good crowd of spectators and the entrance fees over both days raised £550.00 in total for the N.S.P.C.C.
The cheque was presented to Karen Kerr, who said: “This is a wonderful amount of money and it will help to do much needed work for the needful children in the community.”
