Ballymena ladies continued their recent good run of form when they entertained Dunluce last Wednesday afternoon.

The Braid ladies won on all 3 rinks to claim maximum points and close the gap to league leaders Ballymoney in the race for the 2016 PTWBA Senior League.

Barbara Burnett, Gladys Power, Erin Smith, Sarah Jayne Curran made the best possible start against A McClelland on rink 1 when they won the first 6 ends to open up a 12 shot advantage.

The visitors hit back and with only 3 ends remaining they had cut the deficit to only 2 shots. The Braid ladies however rebuffed the Dunluce charge when they picked up 6 shots over the closing ends to win the contest by 21 shots to 13.

Jennie McCready, Andrea McKeown, Donna McCloy and Barbara Cameron were in unstoppable form against P Calvin on rink 2.

The Braid ladies opened their account with a count of 5 shots and another 4 shots on the 3rd end saw them take charge.

The visitors could only score 2 singles over the opening 13 ends and at this stage of the game the Braid ladies lead by 22 shots.

Each rink scored 3 shots over the remaining ends to leave the final score 28-6.

Eva Gage, Angela Davidson, Pat Allen and Jennifer Dowds had a real fight on their hands on rink 3 against A Elliott.

The Braid ladies took an early 3-1 lead after 4 ends but 8 shots over the next 3 ends gave the visitors the advantage.

Three ends later the Dunluce rink still held a 6 shot advantage but the Ballymena ladies found another gear and over the next 6 ends they picked up 12 unanswered shots to turn a 6 shot deficit in to a 6 shot advantage.

Even though the visitors scored 2 singles over the final ends it was too little too late as the Braid foursome claimed a hard earned 17-13 victory.

This week the ladies continue their PTWBA league title quest when they entertain Magherafelt on Wednesday.
