Fairhill Hustlers clinched top position in the bottom half of the Ballymena Towers Pool League by beating Mighty Moat in a play-off last week.

The Harryville side raced into a 2-0 lead in the match, played in the Minnesota clubrooms.

Michael Thompson and Alan Rainey both had wins in straight frames against George McCullough and Robert Graham before Glenn Mairs pulled a game back for the Hustlers with a 2-0 win over David Nicholl.

Daniel Magill restored the two game cushion for the Moat with 2-1 win against Richard Campbell. Justin Kilpatrick then recorded a 2-0 win over Martin Hill to leave the match score 3-2 for the Mighty Moat.

In the final game Ritchie Irwin had a win in straight frames over Dean Robinson to leave the match tied at 3-3.

This meant a best of three play off and Glenn Mairs stepped up for Fairhill and won 2-0 against Alan Rainey to hand the victory to leave the match score at 4-3 in favour of the Fairhill Hustlers. POM - Glenn Mairs
