One of the Mid-Antrim area’s longest-running indoor bowling tournaments reaches its exciting conclusion this weekend.

The finals of the Duneane Presbyterian singles tournament take place in the church hall this Saturday night.

This year’s event is a milestone one for the organisers, as the tournament - once again sponsored by Superseal Windows - celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Bowlers are competing for the Jim Richardson Memorial Shield, in memory of the long-time tournament organiser.

The event’s enduring popularity was once again emphasised last week as 84 bowlers competed on the first three qualifying nights.

Hopes of a ‘home’ winner remain intact as Duneane’s Gerald McLernon was among the first qualifiers.

Mid-Antrim Zone player Tom Lithco will also be part of the finals night line-up after coming through Friday night’s heat.
