The time is fast approaching for the people of Ballymena to select their sporting stars of 2014!

Entries are now being sought for the 17th annual Ballymena Sports Awards, which will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015, in the Braid Town Hall complex.

The awards recognise the fantastic achievements of sportsmen and women throughout Ballymena and it is also an opportunity to say thank you to all the coaches, clubs and volunteers who make a huge contribution to sport in the Borough.

With the help of the public, Ballymena Borough Council will compile a list of nominees in the following categories: Junior Sportsperson; School Sporting Performance; Coach of the Year; Participation award; Sportsperson/team, with a Disability; Sporting performance of Year; Team of Year; Services to Sport; Adult Sportsperson; Des Allen Athletic Bursary; Sporting Hall of Fame.

A selection committee will then consider all nominations and draw up a shortlist from which the eventual winners will be chosen to receive their award on the evening.

Nominations should included information about the nominee’s performance and/or outstanding achievements between November 12, 2013 (the cut-off point for last year’s awards) and November 9 of this year.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.ballymena.gov.uk/sportsawards.asp and are also available from Seven Towers Leisure Centre or Ballymena Showgrounds. The closing date in 5pm on Monday, November 10.
