Entries are now being taken for one of the Ballymena area’s leading cycling events.

The Billy Kerr Sportive will take place on Saturday, August 20.

Organisers extend a warm invitation to all both new and seasoned cyclists to take part in the event.

This event is being organised for the third time to commemorate the legendary cycling career of Billy Kerr who sadly passed away in 2012.

Billy (pictured) was a member of Ballymena Road Club and represented Northern Ireland at two Commonwealth Games and Ireland in the 1980 Olympic games in Moscow.

His talent shot the name of Ballymena Road Club to the forefront of amateur cycling after back-to-back successes in the prestigious Tour of the North race in 1978 and 1979.

The event will offer riders three different distances, each taking in the spectacular and stunning scenery around the North Antrim Coast
