Fit N Running athletes continue excellent form

Fit N Running athletes continued their excellent form when 3 of their athletes were in action at last Sundays Laganside 10k road race which incorporates the national championships.

There was an overall field of 944 runners for the superbly well organised event hosted by North Belfast Harriers.

Mark McKinstry added another national gold team medal to his impressive haul when he lead North Belfast Harriers 4 man team to victory clipping almost a minute of his previous best in the process. Mark finished in an impressive 32mins 19secs in 8th place.

Vernon Shiels took almost 2 mins of his 10k best when he crossed the line in 38mins 8secs finishing in 104th position.

Colin Apperley on his debut outing at the distance posted a time of 38mins 40secs which saw him finish in 113th place.

WILDERBEAST 10 MILE RACE

Mark McKinstry was in action again on Saturday at the Wilderbeast 10mile race held in Glenarm where there was a turnout of 76 runners.

It was a familiar outcome as the in form athlete claimed victory on the undulating course in a time of 58mins 44secs.

WEEKLY TRAINING

Fit N Running weekly sessions and times are: Monday 615pm Recreational Run; Tuesday 615pm Advanced Run; Wednesday 615pm Conditioning Circuit. There is also an adfitional session on Saturday morning for the advanced group.
