Nigel Getty made his presence felt in the latest Ballymena Golf Club winter sweep.

Playing off a four handicap, he toured the 13 holes in three under gross for a total of 47 shots, which translated into a total of 33 points.

Nigel set off with two pars, followed by a birdie on the par five third and he added another trio of pars.

The seventh and eighth were rewarding as he birdied both and he completed the outward nine with a par to be three under after nine holes.

The final four holes saw him score two pars, only to drop his only shot on the 12th, but he retrieved it with another birdie on the final hole.

His total of 33 points was one ahead of Roy Worthington who used his 17-shot handicap allowance to his best advantage.

His only par came on the opening hole but he followed that up with 10 single bogeys, a double bogey at the 11th and he completed his round with a four point birdie on the last hole, to bring his total to 32 points.

Category one was won by Sean McGarry (3) with a total of 29 points, having been level par gross.

Sean registered 11 pars, a birdie on the fourth only to drop a shot on the next hole.

Category two was won by past captain Jim Drennan (9) who posted a total of 31 points which came from eight pars, three bogeys, a double bogey on the par five ninth, plus he had a birdie on the sixth which was worth four points on its own.

George B McCrea (11) with 32 points having lost out over the last four holes for the runner-up prize.

William McCosh topped the list in category four with a total of 31 points - that despite failing to score at the eighth hole.

Michael McGarry (2) returned the best gross card with a totqal of three under gross, 47 shots.

Michael registered eight pars, birdies at the third, fourth, ninth and 13th with his only dropped shot at the second.
