Ballymena Ladies continued their perfect start to the 2015 season when they recorded their 12th consecutive victory at Kilrea last week.

They picked up another 5 points and they are now a massive 18.5 points ahead of second placed Dunluce with only 5 games remaining and are odds on favourites to lift the PTWBA Senior League title this year.

Grace Henry, Kathleen Hoey, Sile Garvey and Barbara Cameron were in unstoppable form against M McCart, opening up a 17 shot lead with only 7 ends played. Kilrea finally got on to the score board but the visitors were in no mood to take their foot off the gas and they won 7 of the next 9 ends to lead by 22 shots with only 1 end left to play. Cameron’s rink finished the game as they started and another count of 3 shots gave the Braid rink a well deserved 29-4 victory.

Megan Wilson, Barbara Burnett, Erin Smith and Sarah Jane Curran could only win three of the first nine ends against M Workman but at the halfway stage the scores were tied at 6-6. Two shots on the 10th end gave the visitors the lead and from then on they dominated the game, finishing strongly to claim the game by 17 shots to 10.

Jean Rainey, Andrea McKeown, Pat Allen and Jennifer Dowds were on the back foot from the start against M Stewart who opened wit ha four on the first end but at the halfway stage, the Braid ladies only trailed by two. The home rink regained the initiative with 5 shots between the 10th and 12th ends to increase their advantage and with 10 shots shared over the remaining ends the Braid ladies eventually went down 20-14.

INTER-ASSOCIATION

The Ladies Senior Inter-Association Championships will take place at Belmont on July 31 and August 1. Given the excellent form of the Ballymena Ladies team this year it came as no surprise that no less than 9 Ballymena players have been selected to represent the PTWBA at the Championships. The club wishes Barbara Cameron, Sarah Jane Curran, Jennifer Dowds, Eva Gage (Reserve), Sile Garvey, Donna McCloy, Linda McCullough, Erin Smith and Megan Wilson every success in the Championships.
