AP McCoy will swap the National Hunt for the Mid-Antrim Hunt this weekend!

The 20-times champion jockey will be the star attraction when he attends the annual autumn point-to-point event in his native Moneyglass this Saturday.

McCoy will present the trophy for the first race at 12.30pm before he attends a special charity function at the Tumbledown Bar, which is managed AP’s sister Anne-Marie and his brother Colm.

In an event to mark his stellar career, the racing legend will hold a meet and greet sessions at the Toomebridge venue, culminating in him getting into the saddle for one final time for the eagerly-awaited Tumbledown Bar Donkey Derby!

That event takes place at 5.30pm, when McCoy will be joined by other well-known faces including Kilkenny hurler Eoin Larkin

“He hesitated initially, but it didn’t take much persuasion and he said he would do it,” said Anne-Marie.

“You’d think he’ll be wanting to win it, but there’ll be plenty of people competing against him wanting to beat him.”

Anne Marie added: “From Tony retired in April we’ve been at him to come over and do something but he’s just been so busy.

“He wants to come over and thank people for the support he’s got for the last 20 years.

“He’ll be there all day to meet and greet.”

All the proceeds raised on the day will be donated to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.
